Sonja Eisenberg was commissioned by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in 1977 and 1981 to produce paintings to accompany commemorative stamp issues. The paintings were reproduced in first day covers, which she is signing here, and limited editions of 1000 signed and numbered lithographs.
1977: The need to conserve water is conveyed by this painting. It accompanied the stamp issue commemorating the U.N. Water Conference held in Argentine.
The U.N. proclaimed 1981 as Year for Disabled People. In the watercolor which I designed for the first day covers and lithographs, I tried to convey what it is to be disabled.
